The Bothy
From the moment you enter the courtyard it is evident that The Bothy has a charm that you can’t quite put your finger on.
The Bothy resides in the base of a 17th century bank barn that has original stonework externally and internally. Many of the carved corner stones & door casings are of Roman origin, probably stolen/recycled from the Roman fort at Maryport. The sandstone walls have been left naked in placed so you can fully appreciate the skill and craftsmanship. The original oak beams, span the combined living/ sleeping area that has a king sized oak framed bed and a newly fitted wood burning stove. No need to pull the curtains at night, simply close the wooden shutters.
The kitchen and bathroom include a number of quirky additions with tractor seat style stools at the kitchens breakfast bar and the sink in the bathroom being carved into an old oak barrel from the local distillery.
Whether you are looking for some where to stay for a special occasion or need to escape from the stresses and strains of the daily grind “The Bothy” will give you a relaxing stay in an intimate setting.
